ADOPT-IPM aims at the development, optimisation and implementation of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) tools and packages, and ultimately a reduction of the dependency of farmers on conventional chemical pesticides.

ADOPT-IPM is an EU-China joint action set up by a total of 32 partners coming from EU Member States, as well as from China and the United Kingdom, including research institutes, universities, small enterprises and extension services. The project is funded under the Horizon Europe framework programme for a period of four years (December 2022-November 2026).

For a long time, the use of chemical pesticides has largely contributed to boost the agricultural production, securing needs of a growing worldwide population. However, the widespread use has proved threatening to both the environment and human health. To address this, IPM tools and methods have been developed and promoted, both by the EU and China’s Ministry of Agriculture (MOA). Nevertheless, the adoption of IPM tools by farmers is slowed down by several key barriers. In this framework, ADOPT-IPM has the objective of developing, optimising and implementing IPM tools and packages in the EU countries, China, and associated countries.

The project is structured in six work packages: three research WPs, one WP for field demonstrations, one WP for dissemination and one for project management.
